She will play not only Scotland’s most popular venues such as Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Edinburgh’s Usher Hall, but other venues in Greenock, Largs, Ayr, Perth, Inverness, Aberdeen and Stirling. In addition to pieces from “The Silver Violin”, Nicola and her regular Trio partners – Leonard Elschenbroich and Alexei Grynyuk – also play Tchaikovsy’s Piano Trio.

Nicola says: “I’m greatly looking forward to touring Scotland again. The Fantasie tour allowed for a level of interaction and intimacy, something which is often difficult to achieve in a classical performance. Nicola Receives MBE in the New Year Honours List 2013

Nicola has been appointed a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours. After reaching a massive global television audience as soloist at the 2012 BBC Last Night of the Proms, she received the award for Services to Music and Charity. “I am deeply honoured to receive an MBE”, she commented. “This has come as a real surprise to me and I am humbled. I hope this honour can help me continue to draw attention to the importance of classical music and the arts in British society.”

In addition to being honoured for her international career as concerto soloist, recitalist and recording artist, Nicola received the MBE for her work with musical charities throughout the United Kingdom. She has visited many British schools since 2005 as Patron of CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, leading Practice-a-thon sessions and encouraging pupils to pick up their instruments and enjoy making classical music.

Nicola named as Classical ‘Best Female Artist’ in iTunes Best of 2012

Apple has launched it’s iTunes Best of 2012 section for the year – listing Nicola Benedetti as their Classical “Best Female Artist” of 2012. Nicola has had an amazing year, winning Best Female Artist at the Classic Brits in October receiving a Special Recognition Award by the Tartan Clefs & having huge success with her beautiful album “The Silver Violin.” She was recently seen performing in Rod Stewart’s Christmas special, as well as a hugely successful performance at Yellow Lounge London.
