Venice Baroque Orchestra
Last night playing with the Venice Baroque Orchestra for the first time alongside Andrea Marcon was a thoroughly transformational experience for me. Genuine freedom, consistent, unwavering trust, improvised virtuosity – all are very difficult qualities to possess in the art of re-interpreting old music. That they manage this is extraordinary. But how they manage it, with such joy and style is a great gift to the world of music.
I discovered so much from playing amongst them. And will learn over time how to better cope with the challenges of tuning gut strings, but the sound they produce is worth the hassle.
I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity. Till next time, here is a photo with us all.
