Debut with the Orchestre de Paris

This week, Nicola makes her debut alongside conductor Karina Canellakis with theOrchestre de Paris, in the closing concert of the orchestra’s season. Karina conducts a programme of Strauss’ Symphonic Fantasy on Die Frau ohne Schatten, Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances, and Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with Nicola as soloist.

Nicola has been closely associated with Szymanowski since the beginning of her career; the composer’s Violin Concerto No. 1 featured on her debut recording with Deutsche Grammophon back in 2005. Nicola also returns to the Proms this summer, for the BBC Young Musician 40th Anniversary, joining a host of fellow winners and finalists including Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Jennifer Pike, Jess Gillam, Emma Johnson and Colin Currie. This will be her seventh appearance at the festival since her debut in 2010.

The performances in Paris also mark the first time the two artists work together. They join forces again next season, performing Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No. 1 with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.

Karina and Nicola perform with Orchestre de Paris on 13 and 14 June. More information here.
